I was recently thinking about and discussing education with my IRL friends in NH. Families getting together and homeschooling is on the rise, really community schooling, without the government involved.
We discussed how pointless it was to make get up at 6am to get on the bus.
I reflected on my own experience being forced to read shit books I wasn’t at all interested in.
The school district spent $17k per student per year. Often, the students didn’t like it, parents weren’t happy with the outcomes, and teachers weren’t happy either.
The idea that my children will get up at 6am to be coerced into government assignments and receive a letter grade from indoctrinated stranger is preposterous. “But they need good grades to get into college.”
Nope.
What they need to do is start cash flow positive businesses and write and publish books before they’re 18.
Amen, when you stop and think about it, the system really is bizarre. But as one guy put it, I forget who, we don't need children to do any work anymore, indeed it's illegal, but we need somewhere for them to go while we do our work. Hence the system we got.
But I'm with you. Let's make kids who are capable, experienced, confident adults at 18 and not wet noodles with good test scores.

I’m fascinated by EXIT, although it’s unclear what the actual activities are other than meetups, and unclear what is being built. Seemed really great until the $99/month part.
Would be happy to chat about it some time or refer you to the founder. I would say that at it's core its about building what you want to build. So for some guys its finding professional expertise to move a business forward, or social support, or dating advice or making real life connections/partnerships on new projects.
